
St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands — The Virgin Islands Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Bureau has arrested 32-year-old Jose Garcia Jr., a second suspect in connection with an assault which occurred in the vicinity of Hospital Ground. Garcia Jr. was charged with assault in the third degree, use of a dangerous weapon during the commission of a crime and disturbance of the peace. His bail was set at $25,000.00.
The male victim reported to police, that on Monday, February 10, 2025, he and Mr. Jose Garcia Sr. became embroiled in an altercation, during which Mr. Jose Garcia Sr. made death threats to him and swung a glass bottle, in an attempt to strike him. Mr. Jose Garcia Sr. reportedly made a phone call to his son, Mr. Jose Garcia Jr., who arrived on the scene shortly thereafter wielding a long knife and allegedly charged at the victim with same. Eyewitnesses and video footage confirmed the victim’s account. Mr. Jose Garcia Jr. admitted to possessing a knife during the incident, adding that he used the knife to intimidate the victim.
