St. Croix, USVI - On Sunday, September 17, 2023, at approximately 6:47 a.m., a hit and run accident where two cyclists were struck by a vehicle, occurred in the vicinity of Straker Motors on the Northside Road (Route 75). The driver immediately fled the scene after striking the victims.

Both cyclists, one male and one female, sustained major injuries. The male victim sustained a broken neck and back, and the female received a broken back and life-threatening head injuries including hemorrhaging in her brain. Both victims were flown off island to Jackson Memorial Hospital in Florida, for further medical treatment.

This accident is being investigated by the VIPD Traffic Investigation Bureau. An all-points bulletin has been issued for a dark green 2007 Honda CRV- LX bearing license plate number CHK-426.
