Brothers Involved in Grove Place Robbery Were Arrested

St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands – On May 8, 2023, between 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., an adult male was walking through the shortcut behind of Mutual Homes, when he was approached by Mr. Jaheem Maxwell and Mr. Shaquan George, who are brothers. Both suspects pulled and pointed guns at the victim, while Mr. Shaquan George removed $200.00 cash from the victim’s person. The victim knew both suspects from past encounters.

A warrant was sought for the arrest of both men and obtained on Thursday, August 17, 2023.

On Friday, August 25, 2023, Mr. Maxwell, age 26, who was previously arrested on gun possession charges, was arrested and charged with Robbery in the first degree. He was unable to post bail which was set at $75,000.00 and was remanded to the John Bell Correctional Facility. He was advised of his rights on Monday, August 27, 2023.

Shaquan George

On Wednesday, August 30, 2023, Mr. George, age 25, turned himself into police at The Police Administrative Building in Mars Hill, where he was taken into custody and formally charged with the Robbery in the first degree. Mr. George was unable to post bond which was set at $75,000 and was transported to the John Bell Correctional Facility pending his advised of right hearing on Friday, September 1, 2023.

Both men are also charged with Assault in the first degree, Carrying or using a dangerous weapon during the commission of a crime of violence, and Unauthorized possession of a firearm.
