St. Croix, USVI - On December 27, 2020, the 911 Emergency Call Center received a report of a stabbing victim at the Aqua Lounge Nite Club on Castle Coakley Road.
Upon officers’ arrival, contact was made with the victim who was stabbed multiple times by 38-year-old Roberto Marrero. Members of the Criminal Investigation Bureau responded and investigated the incident.
The Investigation revealed that Marrero was involved in an argument with the victim and stabbed the victim multiple times about the body. Marrero fled the scene, and thereafter fled the island of St. Croix, evading police capture. The Honorable Magistrate
Judge of the Superior Court signed an arrest warrant for Roberto Marrero’s arrest on June 22, 2022. The arrest warrant was entered into National Crime Information Center (NCIC) a database for tracking crime related information. On August 2,
2023, Marrero was detained in the State of Georgia for another matter and the NCIC check revealed that he was wanted in St. Croix.
Marrero waived extradition and was subsequently returned to St. Croix on August 19, 2023, where he was placed under arrest. He was booked and unable to post bail that was set in the amount of $250,000.00. He was then transported to the John Bell Correctional
Facility pending his Advice of Rights Hearing at the Superior Court on Monday, August 21, 2023.
