St. Thomas, USVI - On the evening of August 11, 2023, at approximately 10:00 p.m., officers from the Virgin Islands Police Department's Special Operations Bureau were on routine patrol when they observed a suspect from an assault case in the vicinity of Splash and Dash Carwash.

The suspect was identified as Shahime T. Ludvig, Jr. Upon approaching Mr. Ludvig, officers attempted to initiate contact, however, the suspect reportedly seized a black firearm from a vehicle and fled the scene. He managed to evade pursuit, avoiding officers who were in the process of carrying out their law enforcement duties.

On August 13, 2023, at 7:30 p.m., Shahime T. Ludvig Jr., 25 years of age, was arrested and charged with Possession of an Unlicensed Firearm, and Fleeing from an Officer Discharging his/her Official Duty. His bail was set at $50,000.00.

This case is presently under investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau.
