Man Wanted for Baseball Bat Assault Arrested

St. Croix, USVI - On July 7, 2023, at about 10:17 p.m., the 911 Emergency Call Center received notification from a concerned citizen of a physical altercation in progress at the Canegata Ball Park. Police arrived and quelled the fight.

While there, officers made contact with one of the individuals involved in the fight and he admitted that he struck one of his teammates in the head with a bat. The victim transported to Juan F. Luis Hospital arrived with life threatening head injury.

Rasheed Knight, age 24, turned himself in to police in the presence of his attorney at Wilbur Francis Command where he was arrested and charged with Attempted Murder, Assault in the First Degree, Assault in the Third Degree, Carrying or Using A Dangerous Weapon, and Aggravated Assault and Battery. His bail was set at $100,000.00. As per Superior Court Magistrate Brow-Ross, Mr. Knight was released to his father, pending his Advice of Rights Hearing at the Superior Court of the Virgin Islands, St. Croix District.
