St. Croix, USVI - On March 4, 2023, at approximately 3:01 a.m., the 911 Emergency Call Center received reports of shots being fired in the Peter’s Rest area in the vicinity of Tipsy Iguana. Upon the responding officers’ arrival, they learned that several people were shot and transported to the Juan F. Luis Hospital & Medical Center. Members of the Criminal Investigation Bureau responded and made contact with members of the community who reported that there was an argument and several male individuals with guns began discharging shots at each other. During this investigation it was disclosed that one of the males was identified as Mr. Everton Rutherford.

Everton Rutherford

On June 29, 2023, this case was filed with the Superior Court and an arrest warrant was signed by the Honorable Court for Mr. Everton Rutherford’s arrest. His bail was set at $50,000.00.

Mr. Everton Rutherford, age 26, turned himself in at the Wilbur H. Francis Command Police Station on July 11, 2023, at approximately 3:50 p.m. He was advised of his Miranda Rights and placed under arrest without incident. He is charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition. Mr. Rutherford was booked and unable to post his bail. He was then transported to the John Bell Correctional Facility pending his Advice of Rights Hearing at the Superior Court.
