St. Croix, USVI - On Sunday, June 25, 2023 at 7:16 p.m. officers were dispatched to Cane Bay for a reported DOA (Dead at Arrival).

Upon arrival, officers made contact with a female who said that while diving with her husband, they surfaced after sighting a shark. Eventually, they decided to continue diving. However, the female’s diving equipment would not allow her to descend. Her husband descended without her though she tried to get his attention. After some time of not seeing her husband, some individuals were called to locate him. The male was located and escorted to shore by a dinghy.

Emergency Medical Technicians were on scene and found negative signs of life. The deceased was identified as 64-year-old Mr. Paul Evans.
