Alleged Fraudulent Use of Multiple Credit Cards Leads to 38-year-old Man’s Arrest

St. Croix, USVI - On May 3, 2023, detectives from the Economic Crimes Unit initiated an investigation into Yey Castillo Tejeda. The investigation revealed that on April 29, 2023, Yey Castillo Tejeda used several credit cards fraudulently on three different occasions to obtain merchandise from Carlos Furniture, totaling $16,097.00 without the individuals’ permission.

On May 4, 2023, at approximately 12:57 p.m., detectives from the Virgin Islands Police Department’s Economic Crimes Unit and Marine Unit were present at the Morena’s Place Restaurant and Night Bar, where Yey Castillo Tejeda was placed under arrest, without incident. Yey Castillo Tejeda, 38 years of age, was charged with Grand Larceny, Obtaining Money by False Pretense, Acting in Assumed Character, Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card, and Access to Computer for Fraudulent Purposes.

Yey Castillo Tejeda was transported to the Wilbur H. Francis Police Operation Building in Frederiksted, where he was processed and booked. Bail was set at $20,000.00, for the alleged crimes. Unable to post bail Castillo Tejeda was remanded to John A. Bell Adult Correctional Facility, pending Advice of Rights Hearing.
