35-year-old Man Arrested on Domestic Violence Charges

St. Croix, USVI - On April 18, 2023, the 911 Emergency Call Center received a report of an assault that occurred in the Paradise Mills Housing Community. Upon the arrival of the responding officers, they contacted the victim, who told them that she was strangled by her ex-boyfriend, Mr. Elvis E. Hansen.

Members of the Criminal Investigation Bureau were assigned to investigate this matter. The investigation disclosed that the victim sustained injuries and received medical attention because of the assault by Mr. Hansen. Several witnesses came forward and corroborated the victim’s account of the assault.

On April 24, 2023, at about 7:00 a.m., 35-year-old Elvis E. Hansen turned himself in at the Wilbur H. Francis Command Police Station. He was advised of his Miranda Rights and admitted to assaulting the victim however, he denied strangling her. Mr. Hansen was placed under arrest and charged with Assault in the Second Degree (DV), in addition to Simple Assault and Battery, and Disturbance of the Peace (DV). He was booked and no bail was set in this matter until seen by a Judge. Mr. Hansen was then transported to the John Bell Correctional Facility pending his Advice of Rights Hearing set for April 26, 2023.
