21-year-old Man’s Obsession with Ex-Girlfriend, Is Now Facing Harassment Charges

St. Croix, USVI - In the months of June and July of 2021, detectives from the Economic Crimes Unit initiated an investigation into Jvante Edwards, after two separate complaints were filed with the Virgin Islands Police Department. The investigation revealed that because the female complainant broke up with Jvante Edwards, he became obsessive and harassed her, her family members, and her male friend on multiple occasions. Mr. Edwards also made calls to the University of the Virgin Islands, where his ex-girlfriend was attending an Enrichment Program, to shoot up the university. These threats caused the university to declare a shelter in place, closed, and relocate the students that were also attending that Enrichment Program, until it was safe. Subsequently, the Economic Crimes Unit obtained an arrest warrant for Mr. Edwards but was unable to execute the warrant because Edwards left the territory.
