VIPD and Community’s Swift Response Recovers All Six Vehicles for Blues Car Rental

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas - On Saturday, September 17, 2022 at 12:30p.m., the St. Thomas 911 Communication Call Center received a report by a concerned citizen regarding a possible sighting in the Solberg area of the six vehicles stolen from Blues Car Rental. St. Thomas District Chief Steven Phillip is happy to announce that officers responded and upon arrival, were able to locate the stolen vehicles which were accounted for and in working condition.

Chief Phillip expressed his gratitude for the quick recovery because of the community’s help and further stated, “VIPD remains the guardian of the community and will do what is necessary to keep the community safe.”

VIPD Commissioner Ray Martinez stated, “it’s unfortunate that we’re expecting a tropical storm and members in our community are committing crimes. My team put out the notification yesterday and within 24 hours, we were able to locate all six stolen vehicles.” Commissioner Martinez, thanks the community and the VIPD team for their efforts and reminds the community that paying attention to little details can produce big results.

The latest weather reports indicated that Tropical Storm Fiona will pass just south of St. Croix. Commissioner Martinez encourages motorist to stay off the road after 6:00p.m. At that time, we should be experiencing possible gusty winds and heavy rain showers. Motorist should take caution when traversing on the roadways during those times of heavy rainfall and please be especially cognizant of areas prone to high water and flash flood. DO NOT take unnecessary chances. The Commissioner concluded by wishing everyone a safe weekend.
