Operation Gridlock Arrest 18-year-old for Gun Possession

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas - On Sunday, July 24, 2022, at 1:00a.m., the Virgin Islands Police Department “Operation Gridlock” Task Force consisting of Officers from the Virgin Islands Police Department Special Operations Bureau, Department of Licensing & Consumer Affairs and Department of Planning and Natural Resources were providing police presence at a function being held on Crown Bay Dock.   

At 1:00a.m., 911 Dispatch stated that four (4) males, dress in all black were carrying firearms area of Zanzi Bar on Crown Bay Dock.   

Operation Gridlock Task Force Officers responded to the location and located four (4) males fitting the description. A Task Force Team Officer intercepted Mr. K’Mahn Kishawn Hughes, 18-years-old, and discovered a Firearm; a Taurus 92C Handgun with an obliterated serial number with one round chambered and 12 rounds in the magazine.   

Mr. Hughes was placed under arrest and handed over to the Port Authority Officers where he was charged with Possession of an Unlicensed Firearm.  

Mr. Hughes was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections after failing to post bail in the amount of $50,000 dollars his Pending advice of rights, hearing.
